The international design competition “Formula Student Germany” is held annually under the patronage of the Association of German Engineers (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e. V.). The competition challenges student teams to design and build a single-seat formula racing car, which then competes at the Hockenheimring against other universities in an international engineering showdown.
Sensodrive supports the “Baltic Racing Team” with SensoWheel technology
Just like Formula 1 engineers, students participating in the Formula Student competition continuously work to improve their vehicles and racing setups. The “Baltic Racing Team” from Stralsund University of Applied Sciences (HOST) can rely on Sensodrive’s unique expertise. As a technology partner of Stralsund University, we support the students with Sensodrive hardware for the development of their motorsport driving simulators – contributing to the successful development of Stralsund’s racing cars.
Racing vehicle development taken to the next level with the Baltic Racing Team
For the 2024 competition, the Stralsund students presented a brand-new racing simulator, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming track tests. With Sensodrive technology, they mastered the ultimate challenge in simulator development: creating a fully authentic driving experience through realistic haptic feedback at the steering wheel.
Realistic haptic feedback with Sensodrive’s SensoWheel
The haptic feedback of the steering wheel is crucial for a realistic driving experience in the simulator. It allows the driver to feel how the vehicle reacts to the road surface and track layout, enabling immediate adjustments to speed for curves and uneven terrain.
For the new Baltic Racing Simulator, Sensodrive provided a SensoWheel, which the students successfully integrated into the simulator after minor modifications and adapting the steering wheel rim.
We congratulate the Baltic Racing Team on the successful completion of their new racing simulator and are proud to have contributed as a strong technology partner!
